No bloating, and I'm regular. The fiber is delicious, truly tastes great. What is in Peggy's Energy Fiber?

Peggy's Energy Fiber contains both soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble means some of the fiber is absorbed in the intestinal tract and provides some calories. Insoluble means the fiber passes through without being absorbed in the intestinal tract, thus providing bulk to assist with regularity and easier elimination of your body's waste products.

The soluble and insoluble fiber in Peggy's Energy Fiber comes from 100% natural, vegan, organic ingredients from real food, including freshly-ground brown flaxseeds, brown sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds.

Flaxseeds are a rich source of essential Omega-3 fatty acids, also called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), with many health benefits including protection against heart disease and some cancers.

ENERGY FIBER & GREENS contains brown flaxseeds, brown sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, dried and powdered alfalfa leaf, barley grass (gluten-free) wheat grass (gluten-free) spinach, spirulina, chlorella, broccoli powder, acerola cherry juice extract and bilberry fruit extract.

ENERGY FIBER & CACAO contains brown flaxseeds, brown sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, cinnamon, dried coconut and cacao.

What does the FDA Say about Fiber

"Dietary fiber is a nutrient to get more of." ~ FDA Website

High-fiber diets may help protect against a range of diseases, from Type 2 diabetes and heart disease to certain types of cancer.

The FDA lists a range of health benefits linked to dietary fiber. For instance, fiber can help lower blood glucose and cholesterol levels, as well as blood pressure. Fiber can also aid laxation and bowel function, and it can promote a feeling of fullness, which may lead people to eat less.

Here's the FDA official statement on fiber:

"Dietary fiber promotes intestinal regularity and can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease."

  • Soluble fiber can interfere with the absorption of dietary fat and cholesterol. This, in turn, can help lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL or "bad") cholesterol levels in the blood. Soluble fiber also slows digestion and the rate at which carbohydrates and other nutrients are absorbed into the bloodstream. This can help control the level of blood glucose (often referred to as blood sugar) by preventing rapid rises in blood glucose following a meal.

  • Insoluble fiber provides “bulk” for stool formation and speeds up the movement of food and waste through the digestive system, which can help prevent constipation.

  • Both soluble and insoluble fiber make you feel full, which may help you eat less and stay satisfied longer."

  • Most Americans do not get the recommended amount of dietary fiber. Dietary fiber is considered a "nutrient of public health concern" because low intakes are associated with potential health risks.

  • Diets higher in dietary fiber promote intestinal regularity and can reduce the risk of developing cardiovascular disease.

  • The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends consuming a variety of nutrient-dense* foods that are good sources of dietary fiber, such as beans and peas, fruits, unsalted nuts and seeds, vegetables, and whole grains. The guidelines also recommend consuming at least half of total grains as whole grains and limiting the intake of refined grains and products made with refined grains."

What about Omega Fatty Acids?

Peggy's Energy Fiber contains flaxseed, which are high in essential omega-3 fatty acids.

Regarding the health benefits of omega essential fatty acids, Harvard University School of Public Health states
"Omega essential fatty acids are an integral part of cell membranes throughout the body and affect the function of the cell receptors in these membranes. They provide the starting point for making hormones that regulate blood clotting, contraction and relaxation of artery walls, and inflammation. They also bind to receptors in cells that regulate genetic function. Likely due to these effects, omega-3 fats have been shown to help prevent heart disease and stroke, may help control lupus, eczema, and rheumatoid arthritis, and may play protective roles in cancer and other conditions."

How to take this fiber product...

Enjoy 1-2 tablespoons of Peggy's Energy Fiber per day in smoothies, soups, salads, yogurt, oatmeal, baking -- or right out of the jar.

Many customers like to have the fiber in their morning yogurt or oatmeal.

Others like to have the fiber in-between meals to take the edge off  hunger.

Recommended is one tablespoon in the morning and one in the afternoon in place of other snacks...especially if you tend to go to the fridge looking for a snack.

"I love this fiber! It gives me energy, keeps me regular and tastes so darn good! I've used Peggy's fiber for years and can't "live" without my daily dose. I put it in my smoothies, on yogurt, on cereal -- but my favorite way to eat it is straight off the spoon!" ~ Diane McCalla
